Fitness Industry Events

In its 29th year, the Cole Classic is Australia’s largest ocean swim, with more than 4,500 people gathering in Manly to take part annually.

Both the 1km and 2km swims will start from Shelly Beach and finish at Manly Beach (subject to conditions) with all finishers receiving a commemorative medal, while category winners and place getters are awarded the famous Cole plates.

This year Fairfax Events will reintroduce an open water swim, known as the Cole Classic Journey Swim, which will begin at Dee Why with a distance of approximately nine kilometres, finishing up on Manly Beach.

NSW, in conjunction with naming sponsor Tri Shave, the National Parks and Wildlife Service, the community of Kurnell, and our other great commercial supporters, will once again host this long-standing tri series, with four races once again included for this new season.

The four (4) race series will be staged in the safe waters of Botany Bay, and over roads and trails surrounding the Botany Bay National Park. Local Authorities limit event numbers for safety reasons, and so entry is available exclusively to Triathlon Australia members but note non-members may also compete.

Race 2: Sunday 15th January 2012
Race 3: Sunday 12th February 2012
Race 4: Sunday 4th March 2012

The 2012 Arnold Fitness EXPO will again feature 700 booths of the latest in sports equipment, apparel and nutrition and a stage that hosts unique, non-stop competitions and entertainment that combine to make the Arnold Fitness EXPO the heart of the Arnold Sports Festival.
The Arnold Fitness EXPO, in the main hall of the Greater Columbus Convention Center, is the nation’s largest health and fitness exposition. It annually showcases leading businesses and organizations showcasing the latest trends in the industry.

The hugely popular Tough Bloke Challenge is back for it's 3rd year. The TBC is an off road running event that combines the challenges of cross country running, man made and natural obstacles, water crossings, mud and some unexpected surprises. The challenge is simple, clear the obstacles and get around the course in as short a time as possible to be in the running for the coveted Tough Challenge Trophy!

Contrary to the name, the event is also open to females in the "Tough Chick Challenge" and a wide range of age categories. Men and women of all ages can participate in the Tough Bloke Challenge and every participant who completes the challenge will receive a finishers certificate and an opportunity at unlimited bragging rights!

The Ord Minnett Sydney Harbour Swim Classic provides an opportunity for the general public to compete in a community swim event on Sydney Harbour and is the only annual community event for swimmers starting from the Man'O'War steps heading towards Fort Denison, around Farm Cove and returning to the western pontoon of the Man'O'War steps, exiting the water via a purpose built ramp alongside the Sydney Opera House.

There are two races open to the public, the 1km Mini Swim Classic and the 2km Swim Classic. Schools, businesses and organisations are encouraged to assemble a team, for more fun and chances to win prizes

The Manly Wharf Bridge to Beach is one of Australia’s largest open water paddling events and is regarded as one of the most spectacular in the world.

Participants marshal at Blues Point Reserve for a spectacular sunrise over Sydney Harbour before lining up directly underneath the Sydney Harbour Bridge where the start line is situated. They then paddle past the Sydney Opera House and hug the northern shores of Sydney Harbour taking in sights such as Taronga Zoo, Bradley’s Head, Clifton Gardens, North Harbour Reserve and both South and North Head on their way to the beautiful Manly Wharf where the finish is.

This exciting new 1.5km swim will be held at picturesque Dee Why Beach, home to the Beachley Classic. Take up the challenge on Sunday, March 18, with all finishers receiving a commemorative medal.

The event aims to raise much needed funds for more than 600 charities.

Gear Up Girl Challenges are a women's - only cycling initiative that encourages women of all ages and abilities, shapes and sizes to get out on their bikes.

You can then celebrate your achievements in festival style at the finish site. You can also help us raise much needed funds for the McGrath Foundation.

The Men’s Health Urbanathlon has taken Sydney by storm! This tough run of 10.7km from Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour, taking in Observatory Park, Millers Point, Barangaroo and Pyrmont, combined with 10 testing obstacles has sent adrenalin junkies into a frenzy

Entries for the Australian Running Festival are now open, with 2012 set to build on the inaugural event’s success.

Attracting a quality field of runners, the women's trophy is dedicated to the late champion Kerryn McCann.

This Marathon is based in Sydney’s Western Suburbs. It is particularly unique to other marathons in Australia with the race route on Westlink M7s shared pathway - an uninterrupted journey for the marathon distance of 42.195km.

The course is point to point with a turn around at the 32.5km mark. The route covers three local goverment areas, starting in Liverpool City, runners will then go through Fairfield City and finally finishing at Blacktown Olympic Park (Blacktown City). Runners will run through the following suburbs: Prestons, Hinchinbrook, Hoxton Park, Cecil Park, Horsley Park, Eastern Creek, Rooty Hill, Glendenning, Plumpton, Oakhurst, Dean Park & Quakers Hill.

The annual Cancer Council NSW Seven Bridges Walk will return on bigger and better than ever.

The Cancer Council NSW Seven Bridges Walk will be an experience celebrating walking; it’s not a race and everyone will be a winner. The course is a 28km closed loop circuit that travels clockwise around Sydney Harbour, highlighting many of the magnificent views around the harbour.

The course and facilities will be open from 8am - 5pm on event day.

To assist Cancer Council NSW in this event we are encouraging people to donate online or on event day at any of the seven Villages.
