| Business Description Body Express was one of the first fitness clubs to adopt "personalised fitness" formula that has now been copied across Australia. Instead of being a gym full of body - builders and aerobic classes, Body Express offers personalised, time efficient programmes in a small and friendly atmosphere. It is wholly owned and operated by Jamie and Ellen Hayes. They opened their first club in 1981 and opened Body Express Bondi Beach in 1992. They have been regarded as leaders in the fitness industry for many years. Many people think of fitness clubs as large, sweaty, impersonal places where you are surrounded by "show-offs" and you are on your own when it comes to figuring out how to use the equipment. And...if you are lucky enough to get some assistance, you often get told different things from different staff, which simply indicates that there is little or no staff training going on behind the scenes. Some clubs only have instructors for aerobics classes where it's easy to feel like an uncoordinated sheep. Some gyms have such an intimidating environment that many people felt they simply didn't belong. No wonder people would say "I'm not fit enough to go to the gym." Body Express is the opposite to all that - People call it "The gym for the rest of us" Who are us? We're the people who might not be in the best shape and want to do something about it...and we definitely want to go to a place where the environment and the people make us feel as comfortable as if we were at home. We want a place where nobody cares what size we are or what we are wearing...but a place where they do care if we are showing up. We've got busy lives and have difficulty fitting in a lot of exercise and so it had better be efficient and effective. We don't have much time to waste on time exercise and routines that don't produce results. But...on those rare times when we do have some time we don't want to feel hurried. We also want time flexibility so that we can come when we want and not have to adjust our schedule around any crowded 6pm class. And...we want the club to be open long hours. We also want to feel safe...to be shown how to use the exercise machines properly and for the best effect...and by someone who obviously knows what they are doing. Although we are happy to do our own thing, we want help, anything from a simple question to getting our programmes updated, we'd like to be able to get that done on the spot if possible or as soon as it can be done. Help like this should be included in our membership at no extra cost. We want our membership to be safe. We've been around along enough to know that a gym that gives all it's members the choice to pay on a monthly payment basis, instead of paying cash in advance, is likely to be financially secure. We don't expect to be waited on hand and foot and we don't want to pay for that either. Actually we don't want to have the cheapest membership fees of any clubs as we don't want the crowding that comes with cheap membership clubs. We just want good clean and up to date facilities and good old-fashioned service. We like the sound of our own names. We're real people not lamposts to be ignored and don't treat us like numbers on some computer. We're happy to pay extra when we want extra. A weekly session with a personal trainer makes sense for those of us who need an appointment to force us to show up and someone to make us give each exercise our best. It doesn't always make sense paying for an hour though as you can't do weights at your best level for more than 30 minutes and who needs to be talked to while you're on the treadmill! Half hour sessions make more sense. We also value being kept up to date with the latest in health, wellness and anti-ageing strategies, rehabilitation and of course ...weight control. Make us slim! We also have busy lives and don't want to fuss with finding a park in the streets. We want to be able to get in and out, safely and quickly, regardless of the weather. We're not fussy. Hang on. Yes! We are and that's OK. We've worked hard and we know what we want. We want results. We want time efficiency. We want a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. We want convenience. We want... The gym for the rest of us. | ||
